and well-wishers.
Korean space launch inspires ethnic kin in Central Asia
Baikonur, Kazakhstan (AFP) April 8, 2008
As South Korea's first astronaut roars into space on
Tuesday one group of overlooked fans will be staring up from this
remote ex-Soviet territory with special enthusiasm: ethnic Koreans. If
Yi So-Yeon represents everything that is youthful and optimistic about
her homeland, the ethnic Koreans resident around Baikonur cosmodrome
are testimony to a painful period of uprooting and hardship .

Three Rocketeers For Shenzhou
Sydney, Australia (SPX) Apr 09, 2008
In just a few months, China's Shenzhou 7 spacecraft
will lift off on a mission to perform China's first spacewalk. The
mission is exciting, but the media silence is deafening. We know almost
nothing about the spacesuit, or how the astronaut will be connected to
his spacecraft. Trying to work out what's happening behind closed doors
requires a bit of deductive reasoning. In my previous 2008 ..

Outside View: Bush, Ukraine look westward
Moscow (UPI) Apr 08, 2008
Why are President Bush and his administration
suddenly interested in Ukraine just nine months before the end of his
term? Pushing Ukraine or Georgia into NATO in his remaining months in
office is Bush's only chance at scoring a major success in Eastern
Europe. This is why he was so determined to go there, ignoring Russia's
objections and doubts of U.S. traditional European allies. .

increasingly joining the many CDMA-based devices that incorporate GPS
capabilities; and on the demand side by surging consumer interest in
personal navigation functionality. According to a new report from ABI
The 2008 Great Moonbuggy Race
Huntsville AL (SPX) Apr 08, 2008
Not one of the participants in NASA's 2008 Great
Moonbuggy Race was old enough to have seen the 1969 movie, Those Daring
Young Men in Their Jaunty Jalopies. Nevertheless, the racers all looked
like stars of that film as they careened about the simulated lunar
terrain race course in a motley variety of strange vehicles. These high
school and college students, representing 20 states, Puerto

NASA has opened up a public website to ask for the public's help in looking at future
landing sites. For the first time in history, you can view the planet Mars in ways that were only dreamed
of in the past. You might even find something that no one has seen before!

Neat! And I love the profile pic over here, I hadn't been over here in a while...
Good to have you back, enjoy...I love these photo's
Ya all come back now ya hear :>)
You are introducing me to a whole new fascinating world. I have always been a stargazer, but basically just for the natural beauty and to prove I can still pick out Orion, the Dippers, and the North Star. I have visited Cape Kennedy and have toured the site. I have been to planetariums, have witnessed the Space Shuttle flying overhead, watched comets and meteor showers. I consider myself lucky to have seen the aurora borealis (it did appear overhead in RI at least on that one occassion I saw it), to have watched the landing and walking on the moon on TV, and have seen great shots of Mars and other fantastic sights from space. However, I have not followed "news", studied constellations, sought out more information, etc. You now, though, have sparked more of an interest into these different areas. I was extremely interested in the story of the South Korean astronaut and the story about Bush (and his interest in the Ukraine) really caught my attention. Thank you for being an eye-opener and leading me into a new realm of interest.
Thank you for adding this, it helps me to keep posting things. I never know if there will be an interest till I post and see how many people read it.
I have a curious mind, I don't know from day to day what I'll be doing, what I'll find and share.
I told my hubby when we married, I promised to love, cherish and keep him entertained (I didn't promise to obey:>)
Sunlight a blogger commented yesterday that I had deep profound thoughts as well as light hearted. Humor is important to me, I can get serious and philosophy is my thing, but then to keep me sane, I add something funny. My dad had a way of making people laugh, mom was the quiet thinker, one look at you type of person and that spoke volumes.
Good balance to be raised with.
Great info — as always!
